"Don't put all your eggs in one basket." That's one reason why there are so many different organizations involved in some aspect of environment or conservation or outdoors preservation. Each organzation has a niche. The Sierra Club is pleased to introduce land trusts as a good way to help preserve the land. Please check the links below for more information.

Directors from the Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust presented an excellent program to our group at our 02/10/00 meeting.

A land trust is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of natural resources. Land trusts develop partnerships with landowners and citizens of the community to achieve mutual goals in preservation of land and natural resources.

Land trusts use a variety of options to achieve conservation goals while accommodating the wishes of the landowner and the needs of the community. Working through land trusts offers tax benefits that help land owners keep land in the family.
